I went to the Edmonds oyster fest
A list of the dishes I had
For the past couple of weekends they have been doing an oyster fest in downtown Edmonds. Five restaurants are participating. Sunday, March 22nd is the last day that you can participate.
Each restaurant had a special oyster fest menu with several options to choose from. I always went with the oyster option which seemed appropriate considering it was oyster fest.
I started off going to Market. They gave me a punch card and said if I get at least three marks on the card and I'll get a $20 off certificate. This was pretty easy to do as four of the restaurants are within a block or so in downtown Edmonds.
My first choice was a raw oyster. Unfortunately the sauce that usually have for this ran out. The guy that worked there said it was a vinegar-based sauce but instead they gave me a packet of Tabasco and a lemon wedge. And I actually never put Tabasco on a raw oyster before so it was a new experience and I enjoyed it.
The next stop was Salt and Iron. I've been here before and it's one of my favorite restaurants in the area.
I got the deep fried oysters this time, it came with an aioli and a vinegar sauce. It also came with deep fried jalapeno chips which were very good. This was definitely more feeling than the last option but also more expensive. The last one was about $5 and this one was about $25. I think it was worth it though. I very much enjoyed this one.
The next stop was SanKai
This is a sushi restaurant, and I went with the marinated oysters pictured above here. I really enjoyed these and it was nice change from the other two. Any worries I had about getting the same kind of thing over and over were dispelled.
This was the first time I had ever been to this restaurant and I definitely want to go back and have a full dinner there. The staff was very friendly and the rest of them full menu looked very interesting.
And finally the last stop was Fire & the Feast.
This was an Italian restaurant and I ended up choosing the Pesto Rockefeller. It came in a hot plate and I was worried that it would be too hot to eat but the temperature was perfect. This is another place I had never been before. Everybody around me had ordered pizza which looked great. I'll definitely come back and check this place out too. It goes to show you what good marketing dish was.
There was one more restaurant on the list but I didn't go to that because it was much further away. These were all a very close walk from each other. I went back to Market and turned in my punch card and got $20 off any of the restaurants that were participating. It was a fun evening and it made me remember how much I enjoy the downtown Edmonds area. A very relaxed vibe and right on the water. I highly recommend it to anybody that can catch it on the last day.
