I went to the small business Saturday $8 Food Walk in Seattle's Chinatown International District
Korean Skewers, Honey Prawns, and Perfect Wings
Apparently they gave away free food to the first customers but unfortunately I missed that, however $8 a pop to try a bunch of new restaurants isn’t a bad deal.
I took the Light Rail to the International District Station and the first restaurant was right across the street. Umma Dak had Korean fried chicken skewers. I got the sweet chili (if I remember correctly) and picked up a menu/guide. The skewer was great, like everything I had today.
It’s important as a blogger to have well manicured fingernails. Next on the list was Fortune Garden with Honey Walnut Prawns. Again, delicious.
Finally I had to walk a few blocks to get to Phnom Penh Noodle House for their Phnom Penh Chicken Wing. Needless to say it was as delicious as it looks.
This was a great promotion for the International District as it reminded me of how many great restaurants exist in an area of a few blocks and how easy it is to get to.
I despise driving anywhere in town down but I live right next to the light rail which drops me off right at the center of the International Distrct. I also had a realization. I’ve been to this area before many times by taking the light rail and I’ve driven to Uwajimaya many times but I never connected the map in my head to realize Uwajimaya is just a block from the rail station. I’m definitely never driving there again as the parking lot and driving in the area is a hassle.
Also another important discovery was that there is a public ping pong table right in the middle of Hing Hay Park. I will definitely be utilizing that in the future.
Overall I’m very glad I went and look forward to exploring this area more. There are so many cool looking restaurants to try out.
