Top 10 Most Beautiful Guitar Solos
Of all time.
I have decided to compile a list of my favorite guitar solos of all time. I looked at a lot of other top lists, and all they look very similar. I created a List of the best guitar solo lists of all time. There were a lot of entries on these lists you wont see here. I realize people admire a lot of solos for how fast, and how difficult they are to play. I’m not judging guitar solos on difficulty, only musicality. But you already knew that because you read the title, but what you didn’t know was I just changed the title of this blog after writing the preceding sentence. Having said that it often the case that these solos very technical and difficult and the players are virtuosos. With no further ado.
(I couldn’t help myself, I had to add some more ado)
10. Queen — Bohemian Rhapsody
Solo: Brian May
This solo is possibility the roughest of the bunch, it could be more refined but then it would lose some of it’s charm. It goes perfectly in an almost perfect song.
9. Greta Van Fleet — The Weight of Dreams
Solo: Jake Kiszka
This is the one solo on the list I actually just discovered. While making this entry I listened to tons of songs that were listed in top guitar solo lists. This one really stood out as being beautiful.
8. Pink Floyd — Comfortably Numb
Solo: David Gilmour
David Gilmour is one of the best guitarists of all time, he could easily have more entries on this list. I think this is probably his most popular solo, and for good reason.
7. Led Zeppelin — Stairway to Heaven
Solo: Jimmy Page
This whole solo is pretty good, but there is one particular part of it that stands out for me that makes this whole song worth listening to. If it wasn’t for that part whole solo wouldn’t have made the top 10.
6. Marilyn Manson — Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
Solo: John 5
I think this is the shortest solo on the list and also does not appear on any other list I’ve seen. Marilyn Manson’s cover of Sweet Dreams (Which is one of my favorite songs of all time) (I bet thought those parenthesis would contain Are Made of This).
The music builds up and tees up the solo, and then the guitarist hits it out of the park.
5. Guns N’ Roses — Rocket Queen
Solo: Slash
Slash is another guitarist with many great solos but this one stands out. This is the last song on the album but was never a single so it’s a bit of a hidden gem. I think it’s the best song of the album, and a major reason is the solo.
4. The Beatles — While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Solo: Eric Clapton
Eric Clapton did a guest spot on this song and this is one of my favorite songs. He was really able to emulate a guitar weeping in this solo.
3. The Jimi Hendrix Experience — All Along the Watchtower
Solo: Jimi Hendrix
Just realized this is the second solo in the top 10 based on a cover of a song. I generally like the original of a song more but this is a rare exception where the cover is even better than the original. The guitar solo has several parts which were recorded and stitched together but they all flow perfectly going into each other.
2. Guns N’ Roses — Sweet Child O’ Mine
Solo: Slash
This solo starts off high energy, and with every note the energy keeps increasing. Often guitar players want to show off and they play some riff super fast to show off their speed but it’s not the best melody. When Slash does it every note is perfect.
1. Pink Floyd — High Hopes
Solo: David Gilmour
I believe High Hopes is Pink Floyd’s best song. I was lucky enough to see it performed live when the band toured for the Division Bell album. He was just as good live as he is on the recording. When I die this would be the last song I want to hear before I go.
